So, do you need a reason to tweet? Would you only blog if somebody paid you? What incentive would keep you involved on LinkedIn or Facebook?
A recent Harvard study, described in this blog, details the benefits of social media for business. Businesses that used a consistent approach to social media saw a startling 92.7% increase in business over those that used the mainstay forms of advertising.
Knowing this, are you ready to go over to Blogspot or WordPress and get cracking? Ready to add a social media superstar to your stable of marketing gurus?
Well, I’m sorry- there is no magic bullet. The article is fake- I am StatisticsGirl. But listen:
A friend of mine has received 3 real estate referrals from Facebook. I have received 1 from Facebook, and made several business contacts through twitter- and we will eventually benefit each other, businesswise. At REBar Camp NY, I heard anecdote after anecdote from agents who had 40% to 60% of their real estate clientele come from the Internet.
And this happens incidentally, while doing something you like doing. How could you need a better reason to tweet?

Great post Diane..I agree completely. Establishing relationships, touching followers regularly with both personal and business commentary and hands on engagement is probably the most profitable form of advertising. I think true marketing specialists see advantages of “getting to know your neighbor” whether near or far. Real estate is a referral based business, you better believe I’m going to ask for and hand out referrals for my social network friends! Keep it up!
Hey Amaretto! (i love the sound of that) – Just wanted to tell you I always enjoy your posts! You are an incredible writer.
I am getting significant business from the social media: closed 2 this year, 2 pending, and 3 new clients in the last 2 weeks all from FB. Social Media can be done right. the really cool thing, is these FB friends feel like we have been friends forever and there is no time spent on breaking the ice.
Thanks for more validation for being involved- from a business point of view. But the personal point is even more interesting: you step right into a relationship that is already formed- pre-screened, if you will. You pretty much KNOW whether there will be a good working relationship, and how best to help the client.
I like the name HeyAmaretto better than my given name, BTW, although if I had been known by that while in grade school my life would probably have been a little harder.
the best source of new business comes from people you know and trust. Twitter is powerful but the true value is in connecting with people you actually know.
There have been many studies done on network intimacy and where realty referrals come from.
